What are Milia?
Today we are looking at What are Milia?
Have you ever wondered What are Milia?
What are Milia? Milia, are also known as milk spots, which are little white or yellowish bumps that commonly appear around and under the eyes. They can also appear on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chest.
But what causes Miilia? Basically, milia are keratin-filled cysts they are quite common in newborn babies (but quite often disappear after a few weeks), but can affect people of all ages, and may persist for months, even years.
A form of milia called secondary milia can develop after damage to the skin such as from sunburn, blistering disorders, or even long-term sun exposure.

A form of milia called secondary milia can develop after damage to the skin such as from sunburn, blistering disorders, or even long-term sun exposure.
Milia are formed when the top layer of skin does not shed normally but instead becomes trapped in a tiny pocket on the surface of the skin. This is similar to how some acne forms, but milia are not inflamed like acne, and treating milia with acne therapies will only irritate the skin. Although Milia cysts are generally not itchy or painful.
If the Milia is a secondary form then they be hard to get rid of. Here are a couple of home remedies you can try before going down the medical route:
Facial Sauna
A facial sauna (in other words steaming your face) this will help as it unclogs the pores which helps loosen and remove dead skin cells and debris.

Soak a clean towel in hot water and wring out the excess water. Place the towel on your face for a few minutes and then remove it. Repeat a couple of times. Do this daily for about a week or a little more.
Alternatively, you can steam your face for 10 to 15 minutes daily until the condition clears.

Which is your Birthstone beauty look
Just for a bit of fun we thought we would take a look at yourBirthstone beauty today. See which makeup look is best suited to your birthstone.
January- Garnet: Oxblood cheeks
Garnet blush is a stunning way to add some colour to your face and add some definition and contour action to your cheekbones. Any type of contouring is a good idea.
February- Amethyst: Purple mascara
This may seem like a bold move but bright violet belongs on your lashes.
March- Aquamarine: Baby blue lids
Soft blue is your signature colour and actually makes for an ideal eyeshadow too. Just remember to keep it subtle.
April- Diamond: Silver eyeliner
Add some pretty sparkle to your makeup look with a little silver eyeliner. This subtle upgrade will definitely make your eyes stand out.
May- Emerald: Green smokey eyes
Simply swap your traditional charcoal smoky eye look for a deep, green tone instead. This will really compliment your eyes.
June- Pearl: White shimmer shadow
Pearl is not the easiest colour to translate to makeup, but there is a way. A winter white makeup look is surprisingly lovely and feminine. Just don’t go overboard with the shadow.
July- Ruby: Red Ombre Lips
Ruby red lips are always a good idea. To create this look, mix another colour with it. A cool ombré lip is all the rage this season.

If you were born in August your colour is one of the brightest of the bunch. Get a little funky with your makeup and try this edgy lime green liner look.

You have one of the most stunning birthstones. Bright blue lids may seem a bit scary but we think it’s totally chic and totally bold, so take a risk and we are sure you will like it.
October- Opal: Shimmery skin
We think the best way to channel this stone’s shimmery finish is to emulate it on your skin. So, pick up your trusty highlighter and start strobing.
November- Topaz: bronze skin
We love the golden, honey-coloured hue of topaz. There are lots of ways to work this shade into your makeup routine. However, the best way to imitate this stone’s glow is to let your skin do some glowing of its own. Get yourself a tan, shimmery bronzer and dust a little on the face to get that true topaz finish.
December- Tanzanite: Blue lips
Take a walk on the wild side and try a fun deep blue or dark purple lip. It’s perfect for the autumn and it shows you like to mix up your look a bit.

Tips for dry skin
Tips for dry skin
Some Tips for dry skin
Let’s take a look at Tips for dry skin today
In today’s blog we are going to give you some Tips for dry skin. As we approach the winter months, dry skin sufferers will know only too well that it’s time to pull out all the stops to try and combat their dry skin.
- You should not take really hot showers or baths as hot water is just as bad as cold air when it comes to drying out your skin.
- Do not overload your skin with products. Two products is enough, any more than this could cause irritation.
- Washing too often with soap is definitely going to dry your skin further. Also dry and irritated skin is much more susceptible to bacterial infection, because excessive washing strips it of its protective, natural bacteria.
- Never apply your makeup without popping on some moisturiser first. Also, unfortunately, it is best to steer clear of foundation, as it blocks your pores and messes with sebum production.
- Try not to sit too close to the fireplace or heaters or anything that gives off heat as this will dry your skin out more.
- Do not use harsh scrubs. Exfoliation works to remove dead skin cells and this will help the moisturiser to penetrate the skin. Use a gentler scrub as if it’s too harsh it can dry the skin out.
- Before shaving your legs, make sure your razor is sharp enough as if it is not then it may dry your skin.
- Don’t leave your heating on all of the time as this is not good for your skin. You may need to use a humidifier to put the moisture back into your home.
- If your skin on your face is dry, use cold mineral water to wash or, even better, clean your face with an alcohol-free cleansing lotion. Try not to wash with tap water as it often contains chlorine, fluoride, and other undesirable chemicals. So go for the natural ingredients.
- A good way to prevent dry skin is to augment your diet with essential oils contained in raw organic butter, cod liver oil, Omega-3 eggs, coconut oil and fresh cold-water fish.

How to wear pastel make up
How to wear pastel make up
How to wear pastel make up the right way
Lets take a look at How to wear pastel make up
If you fancy trying something a bit different then take a look at our blog today on How to wear pastel make up.
If you want to play it safe then try using lilac or soft pink eye shadow and when you pluck up the courage to try something a bit more vibrant, go for seafoam green and sky blue. Make sure you blend out the edges of your shadow and be sure that no harsh colour changes are visible. Try applying highlighter along your brow bone to give your eyes definition and complement this pretty, fairy-like look. If you just want a little pastel then try teal or light blue eyeliner.
When it comes to your lips sometimes subtle is the way to go, so for a fresh and natural look, pop on a little pastel lip gloss.
It is good to experiment with pastel make up but just like with all make up you must make sure you get the balance right. If you’re playing up your eyes, balance out the colour by going subtle and neutral with your cheeks and lips. If you’re going bright with your lips, try a soft peach or dusty pink on your eyelids to keep your face balanced and to avoid looking like a clown. If you have fair skin then when you wear pastel eye shadow make sure you add some definition and colour to your lashes with a dark brown or black mascara as this will keep you from looking washed out.
As we mentioned above different skin tones suit different pastel colours. If you get the colours wrong for your skin tone it can look really awful. For example, if you have light skin with red undertones, blues are going to work well with your skin tone, so try a pretty sky blue or teal. If you’re olive-toned, try a pastel variation of purple or green.
Don’t be afraid to use yellow make up. It can really brighten up your look, if you are a bit worried then just use a little yellow to line your lower lash line, this will add a little sunshine to your face.

Choosing the correct nude lipstick for your skin tone
Choosing the correct nude lipstick for your skin tone
Today we are looking at Choosing the correct nude lipstick for your skin tone
When Choosing the correct nude lipstick for your skin tone there are some tips to help to pick the right one.
When Choosing the correct nude lipstick for your skin tone it can be hard to find the one that is just right. We have found some tips for you to follow.
Fair Skin Tones
When looking for nude lipstick, for fair skin you should opt for a sheer shade with dusty-pink undertones. A translucent hue with a touch of colour will compliment your skin tone. Avoid flat nudes or shades with yellow undertones as they can make your skin look washed out and dull.
Medium Skin Tones
If you have medium skin tones you should look for hues with peach or pink undertones that are either slightly lighter or darker than your natural complexion. If you pick anything too close in colour to your skin colour it will just blend in with your skin tone and not in a good way.
Olive Skin
If you have Olive skin tones then choose caramel or taupe toned shades. Avoid nudes that are lighter than your complexion, or you could run the risk looking like you’re wearing concealer as lipstick.
Dark skin
If you have dark skin then you should opt for chocolate nudes as they are flattering choice for darker skin tones. Try a shade with a shimmery finish, as it adds dimension to lips without making the colour look flat.

Why you should blend your makeup
Todays blog is all about Why you should blend your makeup
You may be asking Why you should blend your makeup
Ok so you probably have heard the statement you should blend your eye shadow but not really understand why. Today we are going to be explaining Why you should blend your makeup
Make up that has not been blended properly will not stay in place and will smudge and come off easier. It also does not look great especially in photo’s and up close. You may be one of the thousands of people who don’t realise the importance of blending you make up properly, the reason movie stars and pop stars look so glamorous is because they have some one to do it for them who are skilled at just that, that doesn’t mean you need to go to college to learn how to do it as it is fairly simple.
Face
When applying your foundation unless you want to look like you are wearing a mask it is important to start from the base of the neck and work up moving from one side of the face to the other blend you foundation blend round the ears and the hair line making sure no lines are visible , pay particular attention around the nose and eyes. If you are young contouring agin make sure the areas are seamless.
Eyes
Blending in eye shadow is not quite as straight forward as all eye shapes are different, so there are certain ways to blend eye shadow that are specific to each eye shape For instance, if you have deep set eyes, blending a darker coloured shadow into the crease is not ideal. As this will only highlight how deep your eyes are. Stick to lighter, more natural-looking coloured shadows, especially under the eye brow. If you have almond shaped eyes, blending the eye shadow in the crease is alright, but don’t blend it higher than then natural fold. Tis will ensure your makeup looks seamless, not exaggerated. When blending your eye shadow in use a good quality makeup blending brush using small outward circular moves keep going until you can not see any lines and all the colours and edges are seamless.
Type and Texture
When it comes to eye shadows as there are lots types of finishes and textures. From frosty and sparkly, to matte and cream, there are specific blending techniques for each. If your eye shadow has a frosty finish, limit it to the lid only and blend with a flat shadow brush for more impact. If it’s sparkly, blend in the crease only. For cream eye shadow you can be more liberal with the blending, especially if the shade is a natural one. Blend with your finger starting on the lid, all the way up the brow bone.
So now you know how and Why you should blend your makeup

More on how to firm and tighten your skin
More on how to firm and tighten your skin
Lets take a look at More on how to firm and tighten your skin
More on how to firm and tighten your skin in today’s blog
Today we are going to tell you More on how to firm and tighten your skin, as there seems to be quite a few different ways in which to do this.
Exfoliating with baking soda– Mix baking soda with some warm water into a fine paste and then rub it into your skin in gentle, circular motions. Exfoliating will help to keep your skin looking young and fresh because it removes dead skin cells and extracts grease and dirt from the pores. It will also mean that your moisturiser will be far more effective too as it will be absorbed into the skin better. Baking soda makes a great natural exfoliator.
Massage with olive oil– Olive oil is one of the best natural moisturisers that you can use for tightening skin. It’s mild enough to be used on any skin type and it contains vitamins and antioxidants that will help to soften and protect your skin. Massage it in slowly to get the maximum benefits. Massaging tones the skin and the muscles underneath, it will help to improve the blood circulation too.
Egg white face mask- Egg whites are filled with nutrients that your skin will love, they reduce excess oil in the skin and they tighten the pores. Apply the white of one egg on your face and leave it to dry for about ten minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.
Honey & banana face mask– This face mask recipe combines three of nature’s most effective anti-ageing and skin care ingredients. Mash up one ripe banana and mix it with a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of olive oil. Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for about ten to fifteen minutes. The antibacterial properties of the honey will fight any infection and help stop breakouts. It will also tone and tighten your skin.
Strawberry & yoghurt face mask– This mask will make your skin feel soft and smooth, also using it regularly will reduce sagging of the skin. Plain yoghurt is a wonderful moisturiser and strawberries are great for exfoliating the skin and improving the circulation. Mash up a few strawberries and mix them in with some natural, plain yoghurt. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it to sit for about ten minutes.
So that completes our blog today about More on how to firm and tighten your skin.
