90s makeup
90s makeup bought on a change in how and why women wore make up
90s makeup was more about empowerment than just looking pretty
90s makeup - women began wearing makeup not with the simplistic goal of looking pretty, but rather as a means of self-expression and empowerment. They also didn’t want to be told how when or if they should wear make up by cosmetic companies or telling told they wouldn’t be beautiful if they didn’t wear makeup.Wearing makeup should be their decision alone and there’s alone.
The 90′s saw three make trudes at the same time; Grudge,Gothic and Nude, all made a statement in there own way make followed not just the movie stars but more the pop stars then ever before,
Grunge – look saw women with heavy smokey eye make up in colours of blacks and greys, they wore no blush an wore nude lip shades.
Gothic - make up still saw the use of heavy black eye liner and mascara, but dark blood reds and purples around the eyes and on the lips. Eye brows were drawn on heavy and quite often black and the skin was whitened to enhance the look of intense brooding eyes. The look was very similar to the 1920′s or certainly it had a heavy influence.
Nude - The natural, matte makeup look became popular during the mid 90s. When women finally went back to using brown-tones, light pinks, and matte makeup. Women tried to perfect the natural look., the no-makeup look was achieved with a minimal use of makeup. they still used mascara and eye liner but very sparely and eye brows where thicker giving a more naturally beautiful look.
We have nearly come up to date with make up through the ages and we hope you have enjoyed learning all about the 90s makeup
