Is spray tan safe in pregnancy

Today we are looking at Is spray tan safe in pregnancy

Is spray tan safe in pregnancy

Is spray tan safe in pregnancy, this is debatable

So Is spray tan safe in pregnancy, we have found this is debatable but are going to tell you what we found and let you make your own mind up.
We will start with the facts on spray tan in pregnancy.  Any fake tans can occasionally cause allergic reactions, you may not have had a reaction to fake tan while not pregnant but your skin can become more sensitive in pregnancy, this is due to the hormone levels changing. We advise you to have a small patch test to see if you are allergic to the ingredients, this is important even if you have had spray tans or used the product before you became pregnant.  Also make sure the room is well aired when having the spray tan.  Some women find that during pregnancy the smell is too overbearing due to increased hormones in their system and stay clear of these types of products anyway.
The dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and erythrulose that is in fake tans won’t harm your baby if you use them as a mousse, cream or wipe.  DHA and erythrulose don’t go beyond the top cell layer when rubbed in, this means they are not absorbed into your body. As your skin renews itself, the fake tan fades as the skins cells are shed.
It is however not known if spray tans or spray tan booths are safe for you and your baby as you will be inhaling the DHA or erythrulose.  The risks have not been scientifically tested but the sugar and mineral based ingredients are an indication that there are little or no risks involved.
So there we go, Is spray tan safe in pregnancy, we personally think that if you are over the 12 week mark then you should be fine but it is at the end of the day your decision to make.
