Why do we have eyelashes?

Why do we have eyelashes?

Why do we have eyelashes? Lets take a look

Why do we have eyelashes? We have the answers

So in today’s blog we are going to look at Why do we have eyelashes?
Our eyes are an important part of the human body. They are often one of the first things we notice about other people. As we make eye contact with other people, our eyes communicate in ways that words cannot.
You may think that the reason we have eyelashes is to make our eyes look pretty or bigger which of course they do and we love to glam them up with make up.  There is more to them than that and that’s what we are going to tell you about today.
There are infact a few reasons to why we have them.  Eyelashes help to protect your eyes. There are many particles in the air, like dust and sand, which can get into your eyes and harm them. Eyelashes help to sweep these particles out of the way.
Also they help to keep moisture, like sweat or rain, out of your eyes. Their curved shape and the way they are positioned allow them to direct moisture away from your eyes.
They can also act in a way similar to a cat’s whiskers. If something is too close to your face or eyes, your sensitive eyelashes can sense it and alert you to possible danger. Such dangers might include particles in the air or small insects. Your eyelashes help to tell your eyelids when they need to shut to protect the eyes.
So Why do we have eyelashes? we have now explained this to you in today’s blog.

Why do we have eyebrows?

Why do we have eyebrows?

Have you ever wondered Why do we have eyebrows?

So Why do we have eyebrows? Lets take a look

In today’s blog we are going to take a look at the reasons Why do we have eyebrows?.
Eyebrows are a very significant aspect of our appearance. They are one of the most distinctive features that make up our faces and we pay a lot of attention to them.  Some types of eyebrows may be attractive and some not so attractive.  Many people spend as much time preening their eyebrows as they do applying makeup.  Eyebrows are also one of our most expressive facial features. One of the clearest ways to tell somebody what you’re thinking is to simply move your eyebrows up or down.
So eyebrows obviously serve a lot of functions in our culture today, beauty, nonverbal communication and distinctive appearance. But why are they there in the first place? As we evolved and lost most of the thick hair on our bodies, why did we keep that little bit over our eyes?
Scientists aren’t entirely sure why we have kept this hair, but they have a pretty good idea. We know that eyebrows help keep moisture out of our eyes when we sweat or walk around in the rain. The arch shape diverts the rain or sweat around to the sides of our face, keeping our eyes relatively dry. The most obvious advantage of this is that it lets us see clearly when we’re sweating a lot or out in the rain. Without eyebrows, getting around in these conditions is a little more difficult. By diverting the sweat away from our eyes prevents the salt in sweat irritates the eyes.
So it is very important to keep our eyebrows, do not over pluck or shave them.  You may think this is obvious but we often see disaster brows and now you know that they do have a purpose so look after what you have.  So Why do we have eyebrows? now have the answer to this.

Flawless makeup for those Christmas Photos

Get Flawless makeup for those Christmas Photos

How to get Flawless makeup for those Christmas PhotosFlawless makeup for those Christmas Photos

In today’s blog we are going to tell you how to get that all importantFlawless makeup for those Christmas Photos.
When you are after the flawless look then the tools that you use are very important.  We all like to look our best in the Christmas photo’s and these tips will help you to achieve that flawless look that you are after.
When applying your foundation you should use a sponge or your  fingers for sheer coverage and a brush for heavier coverage. Powder foundations, which are best for oily skin, go on with a brush (which is an entirely different kind of brush, of course, than the one for cream foundation). Stick foundations provide full coverage and can be blended with your fingers. A damp sponge is invaluable for thinning out foundation and blending it into your neck.
Concealer can be applied with your fingers or a brush. As with foundation, it just depends on how much coverage you need. Most concealer brushes can be used to both apply and blend, and they tend to be flat and dense, with an oval tip.
For eyes, there is a brush that’s specifically for blending. The brush can be domed or pointed, which helps when you’re trying to confine your blending to the line dividing two colours.  If you want to get even more specialised then you can get a brush that’s only for blending your crease colour to your lid colour.
As far as lips go, a flat, oval lip brush is the best thing for merging lip liner with matte or semi-matte lip colour.
Flawless makeup for those Christmas Photos is now going to be a lot easier with these tips.

our Xmas Party 2014

All that glitters – makeup up do’s and do nots

With the party season raring to go we thought we would look at All that glitters – makeup up do’s and do nots

When thinking of applying  any thing glittery first  read our blog on All that glitters – makeup up do’s and do nots

All that glitters - makeup up do's and do nots
Glitter makeup, while festive and sparkly, can go very, very wrong if done incorrectly. So have a look at our All that glitters – makeup up do’s and do nots
DO Highlight One Feature
Define eyes with a glitter eyeliner and glitter shadow, or apply sparkly lipgloss. Or brush loose glitter across cheekbones in place of blush.
DO NOT apply glitter to all theses area’s. Although there’s no rule that says you have to pick and choose which features to play up on a normal day, it does make sense to show a little restraint where glitter is concerned. A face full of glitter looks less like a beautiful holiday fantasy and more like alien porn. (That’s a bad thing).
DO Dust Shoulders and Clavicle
Either with a shimmering body lotion or loose glitter contour and the glitter into  the shoulders, neck, and décolleté.
DON’T NOT Go for the “Off-Duty Stripper” Look
Use glitter on the body sparingly. Here’s a helpful hint: if your friends are hesitant to hug you because they’re worried they’ll end up looking like they just got a lap dance, you’ve applied too much.
DO Wear a Sparkling Hair Accessory
For glittery hair why not opt for glittery hair accessories  instead of spraying glitter hairspray as you get a more subtle look.
DON’T Actually Put Glitter in Your Hair
Not unless you want to be shedding glitter for weeks.
We hope you have enjoyed our All that glitters – makeup up do’s and do nots

In the summer our skin requires more moisture and protection from the sun. But when the weather becomes cooler our skin needs a bit more loving attention to stop it looking dry and flaky.
Although dry and dehydrated skins have similar characteristics, they have different underlying reasons. Here are just a few aways you can tell  if your skin is dry. Once you know that then  you will know what products to apply  to remedy  it ;
Dry Skin  is normally a skin type but can be a temporary skin condition
caused by lack of oil in the skin
small pores

may be flaky
milia, blackheads and spots may still be present
skin looks dull
skin is not plump
doesn’t absorb products easily
easily irritated – more likely to suffer reactions to products
All of these are aggravated by poor skincare.

You may not have dry skin at all but dehydrated skin here are some of the tell tell signs that your skin is dehydrated. Once you know that then you will know what products to apply to remedy it;
Dehydrated Skin - is a skin condition affecting any skin type – including dry.
caused by lack of water in the skin
pores can be large or small
skin feels tight and dry although it can confusingly sometimes look oily and have breakouts
absorbs moisturisers really quickly
blackheads and spots are still visible
makeup disappears (and goes patchy) throughout the day as the skin is absorbing any water in your foundation
skin looks ‘ashen’

What is Collagen Wave Therapy ?

Have you ever wondered What is Collagen Wave Therapy ?

We have so we wanted to know actually What is Collagen Wave Therapy ? And does it work ?

After seeing an article on Collagen wave therapy today we decided we anted to know What is Collagen Wave Therapy ? Now if you like us  saw this untidy paper you probably thinks its a new treatment! Well is actually not it’s been around  for  years now. It’s only because celebrities are now having treatment done in this country that  you are now hearing of it. But what is a collagen wave  treatment ?
Radio frequency combined with ultrasound waves are used to heat up the deeper layers of the skin to encourage the production of new collagen. This non-invasive treatment is a painless effective way of long term nonsurgical skin tightening and lifting.
It can be used for eyebrow lifting and tightening the jowls, face, neck and skin under the eyes. Immediate mild improvements can be seen but results tend to improve with each subsequent treatment and continue to improve for up to 6 months post treatment.
Collagen Wave treatment is carried out using a machine with a probe which the operator gently slides around the face delivering radiofrequency energy into the skin. Treatment may be slightly uncomfortable but never painful and lasts up to an hour per treatment.
Courses of 3-15 treatments spaced 1-4 weeks apart are recommended. The results may last up to 2 years depending on age, genetics, extent of response and treatment. However, remember that skin is constantly ageing, so further top up treatments of one or more session as maintenance every 3-4 months may be needed, before you repeat the course again in 2 years’ time.
It costs around  £150 – £200 per treatment but works out cheaper  if you have a course of 3 or more.
So if anybody asks you What is Collagen Wave Therapy ? You can tell them.

Handy makeup tips

Handy makeup tips to help you

Here are a few Handy makeup tips

Today we are going to give you a few Handy makeup tips to help you.Handy makeup tips
Using concealer- Never put concealer on your eyelids as a base as it will cause your eye makeup to crease which is not a good look and will make older eyes look even older.
Applying your foundation- Use your fingers to apply your foundation if you want sheer coverage and a brush if you are after a more polished full coverage look.
A powder trick- Always apply powder where you are shiniest first, (this will usually be your T-zone) and then apply a very light dusting everywhere else.
Applying bronzer evenly- Once you have applied bronzer to your face then you should also put it on your neck and chest to even out your skin tone. You should then take a careful look in the mirror to make sure that you have even coverage. This will avoid the awful white neck look that we too often see.
Eyeshadow tip- To Get the best look always start with a base shadow without any shimmer that matches the lightest skin tone on your face and apply all over your lid up to the brow. By doing this you will be able to blend the darker shadows used on your lid up to the crease are properly . You will get a graduated effect with the colours you using that blend smoothly into one another.
Eyeliner trick- Instead of looking straight ahead at the mirror, when you apply your eyeliner get as close to it as possible, stick your head up and bring your chin toward the mirror. You want to look down as you apply, starting at the inner corner and making sure to go all the way out to the fold on the outside of the eye. This makes it easier to get the look you want as you can see where the eyeliner sits as you draw it.
So there we are, some Handy makeup tips for you to try out, let us know if you have any of your own to share.

What are colour correctors ?

What are colour correctors ?

Have you ever asked yourself  What are colour correctors ?What are colour correctors ?

What are colour correctors ? And how do you use them?

So have you ever wondered, What are colour correctors ? well in today’s blog we are going to tell you and explain how to do this.
Colour correcting concealers are designed to hide skin imperfections like redness, sallowness, and general discoloration.  Most slight skin discoloration issues can be managed by your foundation and concealer, but if you’re seeking perfection, a colour correcting concealer under your foundation and concealer will do the trick.
Choosing the right colour correcting concealer for you comes down to two things: colour and consistency. Make sure you are getting the right consistency and colour for what you are looking to mask. If you have an extreme case of discoloration, you’ll need a heavier product with a more intense colour. To even out mild to moderate discoloration you’ll want a sheerer formula in a softer colour. When confused about what colour to get, refer to a colour wheel. Complementary colours, or opposites on the colour wheel, cancel each other out.
Green corrects extreme redness such as birthmarks, rashes etc. For moderate redness use sheerer formulas.
Yellow corrects pink and milder redness.  Conditions such as rosacea, broken capillaries, sensitivity can be corrected using yellow concealers.
Pink corrects yellow and mild green, brightening overly olive, sallow skin. Very light shades of pink are also great for highlighting.
Orange/Peach corrects blue hues, under eye circles, dark spots caused by aging or sun damage, and brightens deeper skin tones. Orange is great for covering up a blue bruise and  lighter shades of orange such as peach, are better for covering a more mild case of the blues.
Violet/Blue neutralizes yellow and orange tones, it corrects dark spots and hyper-pigmentation and overly orange (think self-tanner) skin.
Once you have  the correct product, keep in mind that less is more.  Start with a little bit of product then if you need more, add little by little. Once you’ve applied the proper colour corrector, press foundation or concealer over the top. This will ensure that the colour correcting concealer has stayed where you put it. Also only use corrector where you need it.
What are colour correctors ? you should now understand what they are and be able to use them.

Makeup mistakes

You would be surprised at how many Makeup mistakes there are!

Today we are going to tell yo u a few more Makeup mistakes

Today we thought we would tell you a few more Makeup mistakes and why you should stop doing them;
  •  If you thickly line your bottom lash line.  Stop as you are placing too much emphasis on your lower lash line which will drag your eyes down, making your eyes look smaller and making you look older. Outlining your entire eye in black liner should be reserved for smoky eye looks at night. Not to mention you can end up looking look a sad racoon if your makeup smudges.
  • Don’t  wear  your blush too low. Wearing blush below your nose visually drags your cheeks down, making you look older and your cheeks saggier. Imagine a line below the end of your nose that connects to the end of your ears and try to keep blush above it.
  • Overlining your lips to make them appear larger. Does not  look natural. If you want the appearance of fuller lips, rather use light-reflecting glosses,   or nude shades  you can even use a concealer to lightly go round the out side of your lips and gentle dab in this will give you a subtle 3d effect.
  • Stop. using wedge sponges to apply your foundation. These soak up your foundation and hold bacteria.
  •  If you must use a bronzer, use a fluffy brush to lightly dust to contour areas such as under the cheekbones, at temples and hairline. Not all over your face this just makes you look like you have a weird tan.
  • If you find your shadow never looks as blended and professional as you’d like its probably because you don’t have the right tools. You cannot use one eye shadow brush for everything.  At the very least, you need a fluffy crease brush and a flat shader brush.  You won’t expect a painter to produce a work of art with rubbish brushes the same is to be said when applying makeup you need decent brushes  to get the best result. So throw away the sponge applicator and go buy a couple of good brushes.
We find new  and common Makeup mistakes all the time so expect this won’t be the last ones we put on here.

The next big thing?

Is this new facial The next big thing? The next big thing?

Well let’s see if you think this is The next big thing?

Could this facial be the The next big thing?, well we are not so sure, take a look and let us know what you think.
We can’t really believe we are writing a blog on this but couldn’t resist sharing what we came across today.  Apparently the next big facial to hit the salons is in fact not on your face at all, it is a vigina facial.  Well we did say we couldn’t quite believe it.
It has become known as the vajaycial by the New York Times.  It has yet to take off there and we are not so sure it actually will.
The vajaycial is a scrub and cleaning of the pores and skin that surround a woman’s nether regions. Believe it or not the vagina facial is not necessarily a new concept, but in recent days, it has gained steam thanks to the famous J Sisters in Manhatten, who are waxers to the stars, they made a name for themselves with the Brazilian wax.
It’s one thing keeping your private parts clean and hair free but maybe a little too far to be going to a salon for a full on facial down there.
Another unbelievable thing we have found about vigina’s is that apparently according to two men that have now come up with a pill for it, vigina’s smell.
The two men have started other companies in the past and then launched this line of probiotics  pills that many take to bolster their immune system and stave off yeast and these include a Sweet Peach line. Like other probiotics, this is designed to prevent yeast infections and UTIs, but has the bonus of also making the vigina smell fruity.
It could just be an added bonus if thats what you like but would women actually take them for that reason, we feel its a step too far really and not really necessary but what do you think?  Maybe we should invent a pill for men to take to make their bottoms smell of fruit.
So could these two strange things be The next big thing?, we’re not so sure about that.

Could your skin be dehydrated?

Could your skin be dehydrated?

So Could your skin be dehydrated?Could your skin be dehydrated?

In today’s blog we are looking at Could your skin be dehydrated?

So Could your skin be dehydrated?  take a look at our blog and you should find the answer to this.
A lot of people mistake dehydrated skin for dry skin which is lacking in oil  but while dry skin is a common skin type, dehydrated skin can actually occur in all skin types. It is a skin condition that is caused by a lack of water, not oil and this means that even the oiliest skin types can suffer from it .Dehydrated skin is becoming one of the most common skin complaints discussed in beauty salons. The modern phenomenon of stripping skin with harsh acne treatments, over exfoliating and using treatments like chemical peels has literally drained the moisture out of many people’s skin.
If you have Dehydrated skin it will look lifeless and grey and may be subject to fine lines and wrinkles even in the younger person. Dry, scaly patches may also be present and in severe cases, peeling and dermatitis. Oily skin types may have a thick greasy sheen as the skin goes into panic mode and overcompensates by producing more and more oil. This can be even more problematic as the excess oil can block pores and cause acne, from small closed blackheads right up to infected cysts with the potential to scar.
The best way to prevent the problem or rectify it if you are already suffering is to rehydrate the skin. In dry to normal skin types a rich hydrating moisturiser should do the trick within a few weeks.
If you have oily skin things can be more tricky. To avoid blocking pores and making the situation worse, you need to look for an oil free moisturiser.
Drinking plenty of water, avoiding excessive alcohol intake and protecting your skin from severe weather conditions will help to prevent dehydrated skin.
So Could your skin be dehydrated? what do you think after reading our blog.

Christmas party makeup

Christmas party makeup

The best ideas for Christmas party makeup

As we now approach the festive season here are some tips on Christmas party makeup

Its time for some Christmas party makeup ideas as we move into the festive season.Christmas party makeup
You can make yourself sparkle this christmas by sweeping a glittering powder over your cheekbones, below your brow bone and on the inner corner of your eyes. If your skin is light then use a pink-based highlighter, while medium to dark-skinned women should try golden tones.
Black liner swept across the top lid makes a bold yet elegant statement that needs very little else.  Use gel or liquid instead of pencil liner.  Close the eye and starting at the inner corner, move the line outward and wing it slightly at the end. If you have trouble holding your hand steady, create little dashes along the lash line and go back and connect them. Use a neutral pinky-beige colour on your eyelids.
Chocolate lipstick is great at christmas, don’t bother with the matte browns, use lipstick with mauve or reddish undertones.
When it comes to your blusher, try using two colours that compliment each other, use a lighter and darker blusher.  Start by applying the lighter shade and layer by then adding the darker one.
You can try a different method this christmas when applying your eyeshadow. Use a basic grey eyeshadow and infuse it with flecks of gold purple and green.   You will end up with colour that is multi textured which will look great. Do make sure that you keep the eyeshadow between the lid and the crease as it can look too much if you go to the brow bone and you run the risk of it becoming more 80’s than now!
So there you go some great tips for that all important Christmas party makeup.

Fiber mascara verus strip lashes

Today we are looking at Fiber mascara verus strip lashes

Fiber mascara verus strip lashes which ones of you think are better

Fiber mascara verus strip lashes -Mascaras and falsies are the ultimate beauty product they  can transform your entire face in minutes. And with the introduction of eyelash fibers in the past decade, we have even more options for getting ling  lush, full lashes. But don’t put away your falsies just yet! Fiber mascara  and falsies each serve a different purpose, and each come with its own set of pros and cons.  which why decided to have a look at  them together.

False lashes

Pro’s of  false lashes have  you ever notice how mascara commercials always tout new formulas that can give you the fake eyelash look? That’s because there’s nothing that can beat the fuller, longer, thicker results you get using false lashes. False eyelashes are easy to apply once you get the hang of it, many brands come with  a self-adhesive  so need to buy glue separately, they’re affordable and reusable, with a variety of options that let you change up your look as often as you change your makeup. Choose individual lashes for a more natural look or choose coloured falsies that make your eyes pop.
Con’s  of false lashes. Eyelash glue is messy, if you have sensitive eyes, adhesives could cause an adverse reaction or infection, which is why you should always test a dot of the glue near your eyebrow before applying false lashes . Another downfall is that, while fake lashes look super dramatic, they can also look conspicuously fake, especially if one happens to fall out of place. Of course, big and proudly false could be the look you’re going for! Remove lashes carefully, loosening the adhesive before pulling off,  this will  help prevent you pulling out your real eye lashes.
Fibre Mascara
Pro’s of fibre mascara.  Lash fibers are the next best thing to naturally long and voluminous lashes. Not only do they look natural, but they’re easier to apply than false lashes. Fiber mascara, come in a tube with a wand that allows you to apply them directly to your lashes. The synthetic fibers attach to lash tips, elongating your natural hairs and bulking up the spaces in between for volume.  Fibre mascara  allows you to apply and wash off every day.
Con’s of fibre mascara. Lash fibers are very thin and can flake off easily, which means you could get  an  eye infection if fibers  gets in your eye especially if you wear contacts. As the day goes on, fibers can also fall onto your face or eyeglasses, and assuming they’re coated with mascara, you could be battling stray streaks by evening. The sometimes tacky consistency might also make your top and bottom lashes stick together especially in the inner and outer corners.  They can also look quite spidery so don’t layer the mascara to thick.
There you have it Fiber mascara verus strip lashes

Exfoliation for different skin types

Exfoliation for different skin types

Today we are looking at Exfoliation for different skin types

Here is some advice on Exfoliation for different skin types exfoliation for different skin types

It’s not always easy to decide on what exfoliator to use so today we are looking into Exfoliation for different skin types.
Dry skin types- Since your skin produces less oil, your skin will suffer through the winter and Autumn months, this is why it is crucial to exfoliate once a week if you have dry skin. If your skin is extremely dry, you should not use heavy duty exfoliator as this can worsen your skin right away.  The best exfoliant for this skin type would be light-weight and gentle products.
Oily skin- You might think that your skin does not need exfoliating because your skin is oily but oily skin actually produces lots of dead skin and waste that might make you start breaking out! It is important to exfoliate at least twice a week with a gentle exfoliator. Not only that, you still need to moisturise your skin with lots of water based products just like dry skin!
Extremely sensitive skin-  If you have sensitive skin then it is important to use the gentlest product to exfoliate your skin. Since it is so sensitive, your skin can become irritated and create redness due to the cold weather. It is important to moisturise and use organic products ever so carefully so that your skin remains clean and flawless.
It is very important to exfoliate your skin all of the time, so don’t be tempted to be  lazy.  Keep your skin flawless and smooth every day and become confident with your skin. By using our guide you should now know a bit more about Exfoliation for different skin types.
