Halloween make up ideas

Halloween make up ideas for all ages

Halloween make up can be tricky so we decided to do a blog on it today as it is halloween of course.Halloween make up
There are many different scary characters that you can dress up as for Halloween but sometimes it can be difficult to know what to do when it comes to the make up, here are a few simple make up ideas for you to follow.
Scary Doll-  To do a creepy Barbie doll look, you need lots of white eyeliner for the eyes and black liquid liner to create stitches and a sewn mouth.  Put some white eyeliner under your eyes to make them appear bigger and then use the black liquid liner to draw on some lashes under the white to create doll like eyes.  Use the black liner to draw stitches at the sides of your mouth.  You can add some freckles and pink lippy if you want to as well.  This is simple but still effective.
Witches cat- This one really couldn’t be simpler, all you really need is a black eye liner to create this purrfect look.  Line your eyes with the black eye liner, if your good with eyeliner you could do a cat eye effect but if not then don’t worry.  Give yourself a little black nose and some whiskers.  You can add some liner to your lips if you wish.
Zombie-  You will need to use white make up (face paint) for your base, pop this all over your face.  Use black eyeliner around your eyes and purples eye shadow too.  Black lipstick is great for the zombie look too and fake blood sets this look off a treat.  Just smear some down your face coming from under your eyes.
There we are a few ideas for Halloween make up, we hope you enjoy your halloween.

Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensions

Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensions

What are Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensionsDo's and Don'ts of eyelash extensions

Take a look at these Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensions

In today’s blog we are looking at Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensions, so take a look at these important tips.
DON’T let moisture-rich products get onto your lashes. “Shampoo, conditioner, heavy creams or anything oil based will eventually loosen the bond. Tilt your head back when washing your hair or take a bath to avoid getting them wet. Not all lash extension glue is waterproof
Do resist the urge to pick, tug, twist or excessively touch or brush your extensions, it could damage your natural lashes. If at any time you don’t wish to continue, always have them professionally removed.
DON’T get your extensions wet for 24 to 48 hours after application.  Avoid working out, steam rooms or hot yoga.  The adhesive will reactivate and may cause the lashes to stick together and look like caked-on mascara.
Do look after your own lashes.  Maintain the health of your natural lashes with an eyelash conditioner or growth serum. They help the hairs to stay in the follicle longer resulting in stronger support for the extensions.  This should be done leading up to wearing eyelash extensions and after wearing them, not during.
Do re shape your extensions after sleeping or having a shower, comb them through with a clean mascara wand, do this gently to avoid pulling on them.
There we are some Do’s and Don’ts of eyelash extensions for you to follow and now you can get the most from your lovely long lashes.

Primer is not just for your face

Did you know that Primer is not just for your face

Well Primer is not just for your face

We are going to tell you today that Primer is not just for your face, that’s right it can be used on other parts of the body and there are specific primers for different things.
Most of us know that using primer is a key part of our skincare and make up routine as it sets us up for a much smoother flawless look but it can be used on other parts of the body.
Primer is obviously intended to prime your face for makeup as it cuts down on unwanted shine, minimises pores and fine lines, and creates a better canvas for foundation and concealer.
So this also makes it a great product to put on your shoulders and back to reflect light, tone down unevenness, and give a gorgeous luminosity to the skin. The creamy, sheer slightly pearlescent formula means imperfections get instantly blurred, but you don’t have to worry about pigment rubbing off on clothing as you would with body makeup.  This is perfect when you want to wear a backless dress or and off the shoulder dress or top.
You can also use primer for you lashes.  If you regularly wear mascara, then you will also know the effect mascara can have on your natural lashes. Some formulas dry them out and make them look shorter and brittle once the mascara is removed.
But all is not not lost as you can now buy mascara primers! These specially formulated conditioners prep the lashes with conditioning ingredients such as panthenol that help strengthen the lashes and make them more durable.
When you apply your Lip colour if it’s applied incorrectly, it can be a real disaster. Regular exfoliation and lip liner can help to prevent dry, cracked lips and lipstick feathering but lip primer is the real winner when it comes to ensuring you have a smooth application and long-lasting colour.
So now you know that Primer is not just for your face so go buy some.

Could you have a vitamin deficiency?

Could you have a vitamin deficiency? maybeCould you have a vitamin deficiency?

Could you have a vitamin deficiency? yes they could

Could you have a vitamin deficiency?  They well could be, we will explain how.
Some vitamins are essential for bones, others for cell growth, while others, like the vitamin B-complex, support your skin.
Chapped lips- Your lips are very sensitive and depend on vitamins to keep them healthy and prevent them from drying and chapping. Chapped lips cannot only be frustrating and painful, deficiencies of some vitamins may even make them crack. Eating a healthy diet prevents this problem.
Acne- Can be caused by a deficiency of vitamins A, B6,B2 or vitamin C.  To avoid this deficiency you need to make sure you add vegetables to your diet, asparagus, avocado, carrots, bell peppers and cucumber are all great for this.
Dry skin- Vitamins A and C are essential for improving dry skin.  You can do this by eating bell peppers, red, orange and yellow ones are best.  Also Kale, cabbage, carrots and lettuce.  If your not keen on veg then you can also get these vitamins from fruits such as apricots, grapefruits, oranges and plums.
Dry scalp- Low fat roast beef, chocolate and peanuts are all good sources of vitamins B6, B2, zinc, magnesium and biotin, and these are all needed to keep you from getting dreaded dandruff.  Eggs, nuts, fish and beans also contain these vitamins.
Hangnails- You could have hangnails because you are deficient in protein, vitamin C and folic acid.  To avoid this you should eat citrus fruits, leafy greens, poultry, red meat and peanut butter.
Bad breath- You really don’t want bad breath but this could be happening because you have a deficiency in vitamin B6,zinc and magnesium.  To banish that breath try adding fish, bananas, oysters and pumpkin seeds to your diet.
Could you have a vitamin deficiency?  If you suffer from any of the above you now know what to do.

Some of the worst skincare mistakes

Some of the worst skincare mistakes

Some of the worst skincare mistakes that you can make

These are Some of the worst skincare mistakes

Some of the worst skincare mistakes, avoid these mistakes to make sure you are caring for your skin properly. Some of the worst skincare mistakes
Not washing your face before bed- The 2 minutes it takes to cleanse before bed helps ensure a fresh-faced look for years. Sleeping with dirt, oil, and makeup on your face causes acne and enlarged pores.  For a more convenient quick wash before bed you can try using facial cleansing wipes instead.
SPF is only for summer-  Exposure to UVA rays, which is the primary culprit behind aging happens all year long not just in the summer.  This can happen even when you’re indoors as the UV rays can go through glass. The number one way to guard against sun damage and keep skin looking youthful is to  use a sunscreen or moisturiser with an SPF of 30 that’s labeled broad-spectrum every day. For the best protection, choose one that contains either avobenzone, Helioplex, Mexoryl, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide.
Products are too pricey-  To save money you can shop at drugstores, the products can be just as effective or if not better than expensive products. It best to look for active ingredients instead of  fancy labels. The most effective anti-agers include retinoids, AHAs, peptides, vitamin C, and hydrators such as hyaluronic acid.
Think you have tried it all- If you think you have tried it all and nothing works then make sure you are really giving it a chance to work before dismissing it.  It can take at least 8 weeks to see the results of many ingredients, so give products time to deliver their benefits. You should also incorporate new products slowly, one about every 2 months. Your skin will need to build up a tolerance to aggressive anti-agers. Also do not go overboard as it can cause inflammation, which accelerates fine lines, brown spots, and sagging.
Think your skin is too sensitive for exfoliating-  Getting rid of dead cells helps soften wrinkles and brighten skin, but aggressive scrubs can lead to redness and irritation. To exfoliate safely choose a chemical exfoliator, such as glycolic acid, or gentle cleansing beads. Avoid scrubs with an uneven texture, such as walnut shells. Exfoliate just once or twice a week and if you’re using an OTC or Rx retinoid or AHA, it alone provides sufficient skin sloughing.
So be sure you are not making Some of the worst skincare mistakes.

Makeup mistakes that can add years on

Makeup mistakes that can add years on

Makeup mistakes that can add years on to you

Don’t make these Makeup mistakes that can add years on

Makeup mistakes that can add years on are really something you should avoid, unless you don’t mind looking older than you are of course.

No Blusher- Our faces lose colour as we age which will lead to a washed out complexion that makes blusher all the more important. Blend a cream formula onto the apples of your cheeks for a nice glow.
Too Much Concealer Under the Eyes- Dark bags under the eyes can age you but caking on the concealer can draw attention to the problem and make it worse. Choose a richly pigmented, creamy stick concealer, which gives you coverage without having to cake on product.
Too Much Foundation-Caked on foundation brings out wrinkles because the product settles into the fine lines. Instead try using a damp sponge to apply a single light layer of moisturising foundation, which will hydrate skin and not emphasize the creases.
Dark Lipstick- Stay away from dark lipstick because  as we age, our lips become thinner, and dark lip colours actually make the mouth look smaller. Stick to bright or light coloured lipsticks and add a dab of gloss in the center to plump your pout.
Eyeliner Around the whole Eye- Solid dark eye liner can be very harsh, creating sharp lines that can bring out crow’s feet and make eyes look smaller. Thick liner on the upper lashes can also make lids look heavier. Instead, line only the outer three quarters of the eye, and smudge your liner with an angled brush to soften the look. Use a brightening shade to highlight the inner corners.
Too Thin Eyebrows- Eyebrows that are too thin do not look good on anyone but as eyebrows actually thin and fade with age,  fuller brows can make most faces look more youthful. Use an angled brush to fill in sparse brows with a powder one shade lighter than your natural brow colour.
So be sure to not be making these Makeup mistakes that can add years on unless you don’t mind of course.

Tips on looking young

Tips on looking young

Some Tips on looking young

Today we are looking at Tips on looking young

We have in past blogs looked at ways to help us stay looking younger but here are some more Tips on looking young.Tips on looking young
We would all like to stay looking young forever but unfortunately for most of us we will need a helping hand in this and if your not after drastic treatments like botox or facelifts then read on for some tips on looking young.
Facial oils- washing your face with hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils and these are the ones that make your skin look soft and dewy.  To help keep your face youthful and enhance these natural oils try adding a facial oil to your skincare routine. You can apply this straight after cleansing.
Contouring- is a shading and highlighting makeup application that creates definition to your face.  The key to choosing the correct shade to contour with is first knowing which foundation matches your skin tone. You can then choose a foundation that’s one or two shades darker than this. Contouring is all about making your flaws disappear and accentuating your best features.  It can also help your face look slimmer and it’s great for making your cheekbones look higher, and our secret for disguising a waddle (aka that annoying skin that begins to sag under your chin).
DIY Eyebrow lift- Obviously we are talking about faking a brow lift! Take a highlighter (or cream-colored liner) and apply under the arch of your brows to create an instant eye-lift effect. Simply draw a line by following your brows’ natural arches and in a windshield-wiper motion, finish by blending with a brush.
Anti-aging serum- Try using an anti-aging serum that can help your skin cells regenerate faster and make your skin feel firmer and visibly re-plumped .
Lighten your hair-tinting your hair a dark-brown can help make dry strands look rich and lively, but sometimes lightening your hair just a tone or two brighter than your natural shade can help create dimension and bring a glow to your skin, the lighter colours will pick up the brighter pigments in your skin tone.
There we go some Tips on looking young, if you have any please get in touch and let us know.

Choosing an eye brow pencil

Choosing an eye brow pencil

You may think this isn’t rocket science but many people do not know what they are looking for when Choosing an eye brow pencil

We are going to talk about Choosing an eye brow pencilChoosing an eye brow pencil

Eyebrow pencils are possibly the most commonly misused cosmetic tool in the make up bag so we are going to give you some handy tips on Choosing an eye brow pencil.
Apart from the often tragically comical looks worn by women who were convinced in decades past that the “right thing to do” was to remove their natural brows and “draw in” new ones, we also have less-striking errors like choosing the wrong colour of brow pencil (or using the eyeliner pencil interchangeably for the brows). All this of course is NOT what you are meant to do to have eye brows that other people admire.
First of all there are a lot of women who think that because their own eye brows are either blonde or quite sparse that they need to draw them in darker and thicker and in shapes that were never part of their face. So we say to all of you  if you are now the proud owner of thick dark strange eye brows please stop you probably look funny, and read on.
Choosing the right pencil
It would seem  like common sense to choose the right shade of eyebrow pencil, but women often get it wrong. Since the goal is to “enhance” the brows, choosing a shade that is too much darker than your natural brows can cause the brows to look too heavy. Therefore, we suggest that choose  a shade for your eyebrow pencil that is a not more  than one shade darker than your natural brows.
The range of colours for eye brow make up is limited  these palettes are meant to correspond to the natural range of colours.  Look for the selection of shades available and select the one that is closest to your natural shade, but slightly darker. This means that you ONLY want to select anything approaching a black eyebrow pencil if YOUR NATURAL brows are truly black., which to be honest very few people actually are.
When choosing the right shade of eyebrow pencil, you should also look at  the way your brow pencil works. Since the proper use of a brow pencil involves having a good point on the pencil, you should bare  this in mind when you are looking at the different pencils.  Your brow pencil should have a sharpening apparatus, even in cases of the “twist up” type of brow pencil, you should have some means to refine the point of the pencil, so that you can create the fine feathery strokes to give a natural-looking result.  It is also good to have a pencil with a brush, they are usually on the lid of the pencil, this can be used to blend in and create a natural look.
Now Choosing an eye brow pencil should be easier, you can check out our other blogs to find more info on eye brows.

Applying blusher to suit your face shape

Applying blusher to suit your face shape

Correctly Applying blusher to suit your face shapeApplying blusher to suit your face shape

Today we are going to advise you on Applying blusher to suit your face shape

Its not just a case of slapping it on you should be Applying blusher to suit your face shape.
Oval faces -Firstly find your cheekbone with your fingers, then sweep your blusher over your cheekbones, aim to place the colour just above the bone rather than towards the hollow beneath it as this will help to raise the height of your cheekbone.
Heart shaped faces – You need to soften the edges so that your face appears more like an oval as it can look a bit pointy. Apply blusher to the outer corner of your cheekbones, starting by your ear and ending at a point below the outer corner of your eye. To help balance the width of your forehead with your chin you can also add a bit of colour by your temples, towards the centre of your forehead.
Square faces – As your cheekbones are the same width as your chin you will need to help define them.  Apply your blusher slightly below the cheekbone to do this.  You can also try a bit of Blusher in the hairline as it may help soften the edges of your face.
Round faces – Avoid using pearlised or highly reflective blushers as they will reflect the light well and make your face appear rounder.  Use a matt blusher and sweep it from the ear down the cheekbone towards the mouth. Add a little touch of blusher to the chin and blend it well to make your face appear longer.
Long faces – Apply blush on cheekbones below the outer corners of the eyes and blend well. Be sure the blush never extends lower than the tip of the nose.
Triangular faces – Blush should be applied in a sideways V on the cheekbones.  To help balance the width of your forehead with the rest of your face, blend up from your cheekbones to your temple and then extend the blush over your brow a bit towards the center of your forehead.
Applying blusher to suit your face shape couldn’t be easier once you know how.

How young is too young for kids pampering

How young is too young for kids pampering

Today we are looking at How young is too young for kids pamperingHow young is too young for kids pampering

How young is too young for kids pampering this is the question we will be addressing today

With  Child pamper  treatments hitting the headlines so much recently we thought we would have a look at How young is too young for kids pampering.  There is a growing trend in Britain for not only children’s pamper parties but also American-style beauty pageants – which sometimes accept newborn contestants. The French government last month moved to protect young girls from potential dangers by banning such pageants and even threatening organisers with years in prison and fines.
How young do you think is too young?
There are limits to children having beauty treatments,  we think it is more than acceptable for young girls to have a simple manicure or pedicure and basic facial as a treat but when you move onto fake tans and over done make up then this is a whole different thing.
If your daughter is going to a party then them having a discreet make over is still showing them as a child but if you are dressing them and making them up like a barbie doll then this is going too far.  A child is a child and should stay that way, we have way too much time as an adult in life as it is and not enough time to be a child, so help them by making the most of it.
Having said that, most girls do love to have their nails painted and hair done but just make this a treat and for occasions, they really shouldn’t have to be worrying about this sort of thing on a daily basis at their age.
So How young is too young for kids pampering? we think it is common sense really but unfortunately not everyone seems to have that.

Is exfoliating important

Is exfoliating important

Lets have a look at Is exfoliating important

Is exfoliating important what do you thinkIs exfoliating important

The question today is, Is exfoliating important? the simple answer is yes it is and we are going to explain why.
As we age our skin’s natural ability to generate and shed skin cells slows down.  By exfoliating weekly you can overcome this. Without exfoliating dead skin cells and excess oil can build up which would cause your pores to clog.
Exfoliation is the key to help you achieve optimal tone and radiance.  When you gently exfoliate your face it will stimulate the outer dermal layers to regenerate more quickly.  Not to mention the instant gratification of a smoother, more even-toned complexion.
When you exfoliate before applying your makeup it will go on better and can also give you a closer shave as well.   Exfoliating the body before using fake tan will give you a more even tan.  It is recommended that you use a mild daily exfoliant such as Eve Taylors Exfoliating scrub for the face and a sugar or salt scrub two to three times a week for the body.
If you exfoliate properly it can help your anti-aging and skin care products penetrate more deeply and therefore they will be more effective.
As I mentioned before you will get a closer shave after exfoliating and also this will prevent ingrown hairs.  Exfoliating the skin helps remove dead skin, unwanted dirt, oil and unevenness that can trigger the growth of ingrown hairs, so keeping your skin smooth before shaving is a great way to minimise the risk of ingrown hairs.  Its not always a good idea to exfoliate immediately before shaving though as it could cause irritation, it will depend on the sensitivity of your skin, so we would recommend that you maybe exfoliate the day before to avoid this if you do have sensitive skin.
So, Is exfoliating important? that would be a yes then, so make sure you are exfoliating.

Lipstick tips

Today  we are  looking at Lipstick tips

There are lots of different Lipstick tips out there we thought we would tell you a few

There are lots of different types of Lipstick tips  we have listed a few of them some are common others are not;
Don’t play up the eyes and the mouth
If you wear heavy eye makeup and dark lipstick can look to much. If you want to wear red lipstick, keep the rest of your makeup light. If you are playing up the eyes, keep your mouth light with a gloss or light lip color that doesn’t stand out.
 Nude Lips
To get nude lips, which look great with smokey eyes, cover lips with concealer or foundation before applying gloss. This renders lips practically colorless.
How to plump up lips
You don’t have to get fillers in your lips to have the bee-stung look. For plumper lips, apply liner just outside your natural lip line, then dab a bit of gloss in the middle of your bottom lip and smack lips together.
How to choose the right shade of lipstick or gloss
You may like a lipstick on your friend, but that doesn’t mean it  will  good on you. the best lipstick shade is a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color. Orange or brown shades, including corals, look good on few people. These shades tend to make teeth appear yellow. so  pick any of these tone lipsticks with that in mind.
Use liner on your lips as a base
Lipstick will last longer if you fill in your lips with the liner first. If you’re using light lipstick, try a nude liner. Then apply your lipstick on top.
Don’t throw out a bad shade of lipstick
Don’t throw old shades away as you can create a great lip colour by blending lipsticks you don’t like. You can also colour in lips with a darker liner before applying a lipstick that’s too bright.
Keep lipstick off your teeth with this trick
After applying lipstick, take your index finger and pop it in your mouth, then pull it out. The excess lipstick will come off on your finger rather than your teeth.
The older you are, the “creamier” your lips should look
As we age, our lips thin out. There fore, you should avoid matte and gloss and dark lipsticks. Rather stick with a creamy lipstick.
If your know of any other Lipstick tips let us know
