Foods that help tan your skin

Today we are looking at Foods that help tan your skin

Todays blog is all about the different Foods that help tan your skin naturally

You may be aware that carotts can help tan your skin but did you know that there are quite a lots of Foods that help tan your skin and  in fact primary ingredients used in tanning products can also be found naturally in some foods.
Carotenoids are one of the most effective ways of naturally tanning your skin.  Carotenoids are responsible food in what changes you skin tone. Try to think of them like tiny colored particles that are taken directly to skin cells. Once there, they naturally change the pigmentation of your skin.
What  you may not know is there are over 600 different varieties of carotenoids, many of which can be found naturally in our foods. Here is  just a few of the foods to eat:
Carrots  contain  beta-carotene,  which is one of the most powerful carotenoids.  But don’t overdo it with the carrots as you may find  your skin goes  bit too  orange for your liking!
Sweet Potato – also a great choice for beta carotene, although not as much as carrots but it does have a lot of vitamin A  this will help increase the production of melanin, which is responsible for changing the color of your skin.
Apricots –  give you 15% of your daily vitamin A requirements? Like the two mentioned vegetables  above, they also contains a lot of beta-carotene that will again lead to a natural tanning effect, a general note is that any of the orange colored fruits and vegetables will contain a lots of carotenoids.

Tyrosine
This is an important amino acid that aids in the production of melanin. Quite often if you look at the ingredients on your suncream you will more than likely see  tyrosine  listed. Like carotenoids, this amino acid is also found naturally in many of the foods we eat.
Seaweed –   that we eat not to be confused with eating it raw out of the sea contains one of the highest amount of tyrosine.  You can get this in supplements if your not into eating seaweed  but, make sure you get the organic variety as the synthetic brands are less likely to react well with your body.
Soy Foods Any form of soy product will also contain a high level of tyrosine.
Egg Whites – Try switching over to eating eggs whites,

Riboflavin(Vitamin B2)
This works in a very similar way to tyrosine. Riboflavin is another one that you will see on  back of most tanning accelerators as it’s one of the best ingredients known to help increase the production of melanin.
Remember, once activated the more melanin our skin can produce the more intense our overall tan will look. Anything that can help increase the production of melanin is certainly going to be of use to us.
Almonds
Eating just a handful of almonds will offer you around 60% of your daily requirement of roboflavin. They’re also rich in Vitamin E, again an essential component for the production of melanin.
Fish (Atlantic salmon, mackerel and trout) Mackerel is one of the best sources of vitamin B2 as one small fillet contains 56% of your daily recommend intake.
Spices and herbs  – are an easy source of riboflavin, with dried paprika containing the highest amount followed by coriander.
All of these are Foods that help tan your skin

Sun tanning advice

Sun tanning advice

Important Sun tanning adviceSun tanning advice

Follow this Sun tanning advice

Most of us like to have a sun tan but you must be careful so follow our Sun tanning advice to get the best tan.
Food & drink to cut back on to get a good tan

If you’re currently consuming too much of the following types, of food and drink then there is a good chance that they are preventing you from tanning very well;
High does of vitamin C -This is one of the most effective ways of stopping the production of melanin which is why you quite often food it in skin lightening products we don’t mean don’t take it as it has lots of benefits for your keeping your body healthy just don’t over do it stick to the recommended dosage amounts per day.
Alcohol, caffeine drinks and anything high in salt content as all of these cause your skin to become dehydrated which  will affect the production of melanin. Bottom line don’t over do any of the above and you should be able to tan well.
Feed your skin
If you have fair skin or just don’t tan easily you need to feed your skin, in order to produce melanin, your skin needs the melanin building block l-tyrosine. Tyrosine is an amino acid and is found in eggs, nuts, wheat, oats, carrots, spinach as well as in supplements you can also buy it as a tanning accelerator it only aids in producing melanin and can only be built over time there is no quick fix but with patience and following the sensible tanning rules you will have a great tan without the pain of burning.
The best way to get a tan even if you are fair skinned
Sun cream/oil  doesn’t stop you tanning, it stops you BURNING. If you protect yourself from burning, you are giving your skin a good chance of producing melanin. the more comfortable your skin is, the happier it will be, and the better it will tan. Build your tan up slowly, watch that your skin isn’t burning apply suncream/oil regularly.  When tanning you do not have to sit in the sun till you change colour as the production of melanin in your skin cells, continues for a few hours after you have been in the sun.Your cells have already been stimulated to start the tanning process, and by giving your skin a rest after exposure (i.e. sitting indoors or in the shade after tanning in the sun) it will benefit tremendously in getting you the tan you’re after. By evening, you will be browner than you were during your tanning session.
Be sure to follow this Sun tanning advice if you are going out in the sun.

Things you didn’t know about spray tan

Things you didn't know about spray tan
We bet there is a lot of Things you didn’t know about spray tan

Today we are going to be looking at some of the Things you didn’t know about spray tan

If you are one of the thousands of people who love having spray tans, here are some Things you didn’t know about spray tan ;

Wait 12hr after shaving – It is logical to shave before having a spray tan. But when you shave you  are  also exfoliating  the skin exposing sensitive new skin cells that can be irritated by the spray. DHA is the pigment in the spray tan and can cause redness and discomfort once the chemical interacts with exposed cells. It is a good idea to  wait 12 to 24 hours after shaving to have a spray tan treatment  this gives the skin time to repair its self and not be irritated.
Spray Tans are not a base for sun bathing
It is a myth that fake tan, whether that is spray tan or self tan will prevent your skin from burning in the sun. Spray tans give the appearance of being tanned but it has absolutely no effect on the melanin in your skin. So there fore you will still burn without suncream on. Always apply regular suncream when when sunbathing.
Avoid sugar scrubs
To achieve a nice and even glow from spray tans one of the best tips is to exfoliate the skin. By removing the old skin cells, you get a more even surface for the spray tan to adhere to. However be careful when  choosing the  scrub. Sugar scrubs can be detrimental to how the  the spray tan turns out because it can  cause the spray to streak. Scrubs with sugar have oils  in them that will cause the spray to run off instead of adhering to the skin. It is suggested that you  use an exfoliating mitt to remove skin cells do not use any  at the end of the process. Dry skin works better for most spray tan formulas.
Limit the body butter
Keeping the skin thoroughly moisturised is always a great way of prolonging life of a spray tan. But avoid heavy body creams as they  can cause fading of the spray tan. A lightweight body lotion or butter will keep the skin moisturised  without fading the tan.
You can’t top up a spray tan
Spray tans are not like when you colour your hair. It is not a good idea to try and touch up your spray tan. If you add a fresh coat of spray tan on top of an old coat, the colouring will look blotchy with dark and light areas. It is always best to wait for the old spray tan to fade away  and then have a new spray tan  if so desired.
How long spray tans last
How long will my spray tan last?I s a common question t he length a spray tan will last is determined by how quickly cells  turnover. Cell turnover is faster in younger people and will cause the tan to fade quicker. This is a law of nature and there is nothing that can be done about it.Which is why we say between 7 – 10 days.
Spot treatments
The chemicals in certain acne  treatments can take off the spray tan, leaving  odd white marks. It’s best to just skip the acne treatment while your spray tan lasts.
Staying in pool
Chlorine in pools has a detrimental  effect on the spray tan solutions. Spending a short time in the pool will not ruin your spray tan, but long times spent in chlorine will strip the solution from the skin. If you are going to swim while spray tanned, it is suggested that you utilize quick dips in the pool, and pat the skin dry immediately after leaving the water.
We hope you have found todays blog on Things you didn’t know about spray tan helpful.

Things that don’t protect you from the sun

Today we are looking at Things that don’t protect you from the sun when you think they do

We are going to be taking a look at Things that don’t protect you from the sun and why

You would be surprised at the amount of Things that don’t protect you from the sun when you thought they did. Below is just a few of the Things that don’t protect you from the sun;
Clouds  During overcast days when you can’t really feel the sun on your skin it’s always tempting to neglect putting on  suncream. But in fact Some UVB light can be filtered out by cloud cover, but the UVA light can still come through as strong as if on a sunny day although cloud cover does little to reduce the effects of UV on the skin and we should still protect our skin in the same way as on a clear sunny day.
Water – most people know that  water does very little to stop the sun’s rays, whether you’re doing laps of the pool or snorkelling in the sea. But it’s cooling effect can often hide how badly we’re burning. UV light still penetrates through water, especially near to the surface, and of course water also reflects a considerable amount of UV light increasing the effect on the skin. Even if you apply waterproof suncream remember to re apply regularly.
Indoors The sun can’t get you inside, when your inside right? Wrong. If you are standing or sitting by the windows unless the windows have a special coating it can only filter UVB but the  UVA light still gets through. Most house or office windows are not laminated and therefore UVA light will penetrate. Tinted windows may have a minimal protective effect but  even then UVA light will still get through.  So if you are spending time sitting by a window in your office all day it is still important to protect your skin with a minimum SPF 15 and five-star UVA rated product  even if you aren’t intending to spend any time outside.
Car windows–  although your car windscreen is one of the exceptions to the window rules because UVA rays won’t  be able to penetrate its special tinted glass, but  that does not apply to the rest of the windows in your car or the sunroof.
Wet Clothing – Wet clothes help to keep you cool, which is great  during a heatwave. But at the same time a moist fabric dramatically reduces the protection it would have offered you in a dry state. When cotton is dry it provides an SPF of around 10 depending how thick the material is, but when wet this decreases by more than half. Regardless of what material the clothing is made from remember that the protection is reduced dramatically when wet, it is important to still use sun protection rather than rely on clothing alone for protection.
The  Shade – you may think that if you sit in the shade you’re hidden from the sun’s scorching line of sight, but it’s important to remember that those rays don’t just come directly from the sun itself. A large amount of UV radiation reflects from surfaces, such as sand, concrete, water and grass, and can hit your skin, even if you’re sitting under a tree or sun umbrella. This is known as solar reflectance, or albedo. Obviously the risk is lower than sitting  in direct sunlight.
So there you have it, now you know more about Things that don’t protect you from the sun.

Beauty tip 4 U How to Curl your lashes

Whats in cosmetics today ?

Whats in cosmetics today ?
Today we are looking at Whats in cosmetics today ?

Whats in cosmetics today ? And is quite disturbing

We have covered makeup through ages and looked at  what the ingredients  were and how deal some of there were today we are looking Whats in cosmetics today ?
As we know make-up and common cosmetics have been around for centuries. We also know that cosmetics were at times, very dangerous, and could be even fatal. But thankfully over time the manufactures have found safer ways to make cosmetics even though not necessarily nicer products.
While cosmetics are meant to enhance beauty and make look beautiful, the ingredients  that are used aren’t always the nicest. Some of ingredients are very common while others are. However it’s safe to say that these ingredients aren’t  the kind  of things you’d probably think are in your makeup.
Old cooking oil – cosmetic companies have found out that by using waste cooking oil, a certain type of surfactant  which supposedly, the surfactant helps to regenerate damaged skin. Many of these companies will get the waste oil from fast food restaurants and cafés.
Chicken bone marrow – Chicken bone marrow is full of glucosamine, which when used on the skin   it promotes healthy  skin cells  for a youthful look. Chicken bone marrow is also considered to be an anti-inflammatory. This is quite often found  in moisturizers as well as face cream.
Fish  scales – The shimmer and shine that you get with some nail polish and lipstick comes from adding fish scales into the mix. The cosmetic manufacturers still haven’t found any better ingredient that does the job as well.
Cochineal beetles -The bugs are drowned in hot water, dried, and then ground to a fine powder. The crimson red dye is then extracted and used in beauty product raining from lipstick, blush and eyeshadow to name a few.
Thes are just a few of the ingredients that are used today we will add  more to Whats in cosmetics today ? on another day.

Wearing strip lashes

Wearing strip lashes

Are you planning on Wearing strip lashesWearing strip lashes

Wearing strip lashes couldn't be easier with these tips

If you are planning on Wearing strip lashes anytime soon, then these tips could come in handy for you.
As most of you will know, applying strip lashes can be tricky at the best of times, so try the tips below to help it go as smooth as possible.
  • Wrap your false lashes around the handle of a makeup brush to give the strips some curve. Then they will be more like the shape of your eye and will fit much more easily.  This will help if you struggle to get the ends of your lashes to stay glued down.
  • To be able to control the amount of lash glue you're putting onto the lashes, squeeze some glue onto the tip of a cotton bud or a clean lip stick brush and then spread it evenly along the base of the strip.  Wait a few seconds until the glue is a bit tacky then apply the lashes.
  • If you find applying glue onto the strip a bit fiddly then you could try applying your upper lash line with glue, let it dry a few seconds until it's tacky, and then apply the lashes on top.
  • A lash strip can be hard to control so you could try applying them in sections.  To do this, cut your lash strip into smaller strip, 3 should do it. Start with the outer corners and work your way toward the inner corners.
  • Try to apply the strip lashes as close to your lash line as possible, but if you accidentally leave a gap between the falsies and your real ones or have any bits of glue on show then  just cover it up with a thin line of black liquid liner.  This will only apply if it is a slight mistake as if not then this cover up could look awful!
  • To remove your lashes easily without harming your real ones, you can try using steam.  Pop some boiling water in a bowl and hold your head over the bowl for a few minutes, this will loosen the glue and make the lashes easier to remove.
So now Wearing strip lashes should be a little easier with these handy tips.

Eyebrow tips

Eyebrow tips

Eyebrow tips that may come in handy

Here are a few Eyebrow tipsEyebrow tips

If you don’t know what you are doing when it comes to your eyebrows then you may find these Eyebrow tips useful.
Matching your eyebrows– You shouldn’t worry about trying to match your eyebrows as they are sisters not twins, So they will not look exactly the same. Many ladies make the mistake of plucking a hair from one brow and then trying to match it to the other. This could leave you with over-plucked brows, which is not a good look.
Alternative to brow serum– As an alternative to brow serum you can use castor oil instead, so you don’t even need to leave the house (as long as you have caster oil that is).  Wash out an empty mascara bottle and wand, then use a funnel to pour the oil into the mascara bottle, you can then use the clean mascara wand to apply it to your brows.  This can also be used on your lashes.
Don’t magnify– When you pluck, don’t use a magnifying mirror, which can skew your perspective. As your brows grow, hide stubble with a matte eyeshadow that matches your skin tone. Also be very sparing when applying creams or sunscreen on the skin in that area it can clog the hair follicles.
Measuring your brows– When shaping your eyebrows or applying makeup to them it is important to measure them correctly or you could end up with a bit of a disaster. We too often see people who do not know how to do this and it is quite simple once you know.
You can measure where your eyebrow starts by placing a make up brush or your tweezers straight down from the inner corner of your eye and making sure it is in line with the side of your nose.measuring eyebrows
To measure where your eyebrow should finish you can use the brush or tweezers again and line them up with the bottom corner of your nose going diagonally to the outer corner of your eye.
Get bold brows– To get the look of thick, bold eyebrows easily, all you need is a brow brush, a brown eyeshadow and some water. Dip the brush in the water and then put it in the brown eye shadow. You can use it to fill in your eyebrows for a bold and natural look.
Eyebrows shape your face so it is important to get them right, try these Eyebrow tips.

Make up tips for small eyes

Make up tips for small eyes

Here are some Make up tips for small eyesMake up tips for small eyes

Handy Make up tips for small eyes

It can be hard to find Make up tips for small eyes, so we are going to give you some today.  If you have small eyes then you generally want them to appear bigger or at least not look smaller. Follow our tips and you should achieve this.
Firstly you should focus on your eyebrows.   You need to keep your eyebrows groomed to make sure that your eyes stand out. You may find that keeping them a little bit thinner and making sure that you don’t have any stray hairs will highlight your eyes.
When it comes to applying eyeshadow, you should use pale colours as these will enhance the size and shape of your eyes.  Use it on your eyelids, it can be any colour as long as it is pale, try to use a colour that compliments your eye colour.
If you really want your eyes to stand out then you can do this by applying a darker colour eyeshadow to the outer corners of your eyes.  This can also bring out the colour of your eyes if you choose the right colour.
Another trick to try is applying a light colour shadow just under your brow bone as this is a sure way to make your eyes appear larger.
Eyeliner can really make your eyes stand out, lining your upper lash line will definitely help to do this.  Also lining your lower lash line, not your waterline but the lash line, it can be a bit tricky but practice makes perfect.  I know we said not to line the waterline with eyeliner, but what we actually meant was not to use a dark eyeliner on the waterline.  In fact using a white eyeliner pencil on your waterline will definitely make your eyes look bigger.
We will be giving you some more Make up tips for small eyes soon.

How the sun can ruin your skin

You would be surprised at How the sun can ruin your skin

Today we are looking at How the sun can ruin your skin

As good as the vitamin D is that we get from the sun, there is also a lot of negatives things to remember whist sitting in the sun. Today we are going to be looking a just How the sun can ruin your skin .
We wait for seems like a lifetime for the summer, to bring blue sky and a warmer climate, but the summer is all about golden suntans and balmy nights it can play havoc with your skin ! Here is just a view ways that summer is not so great:
  1. Sunburn – yes we know this is obvious  but if you forget to apply and reapply the suncream it can leave the skin red and sore , not to forget the lovely side effect of peeling skin.
  2. Broken Blood vessel (capillaries) – continued exposure to harmful UV rays can cause your blood vessels to rise to the surface and even burst. This happens even to young people it doesn’t matter if your young or old.
  3. Brown spots and freckles – the appearance of those tiny brown pigments means you’re damaging your skin to some degree. Larger brown patches, aka brown spots, can also occur on your cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin if you’re exposed to too much sun. This doesn’t nessarly happen straight away but over time.
  4. Heat Rash – The hot weather can cause two types of heat rash, heat rash is  a skin condition caused by blocked sweat ducts and trapped sweat beneath the skin. The first is miliaria crystallina (clear heat rash), which appears as clear pinpoint blisters that look like small beads of sweat. These then burst and cause your skin to peel, although blisters don’t hurt but appear on your skin when you perspire a lot and are in the sun. The other kind of heat rash, miliaria rubra (red heat rash), occurs when sweat is trapped and the skin becomes inflamed and itchy not every one suffered from this but its not pleasant if you do.
  5. Acne – even if you usually don’t break out in spots, you might see a few spots  in the summer, thanks to the heat, which triggers excess sweat to mix with the existing dirt and bacteria on your face.  And if you are using the wrong suncream for your skin type this problem is compacted as the pores can become clogged .
  6. Chaffing – chaffing happens any time your skin is sweaty and rubbing together. You see this a lot around the thighs when people are wearing shorts, but it can happen if you’re exercising outdoors along your sports bra and bikini line as well.
  7. Razor burn and ingrown hairs – In the summer, you’re likely shaving more frequently since you’re more than likely going to be wearing a swim suit  (The swimsuit itself can irritate your bikini line and contribute to ingrown hairs, this is due to the  tight fit.
  8. Tinea Versicolor  – Hot climates and sweat can trigger a fungal infection where the yeast that naturally lives on your skin overpopulates and releases an enzyme that causes patches of skin to be a different colors than the rest, like red or brown. This usually occurs on the trunk of your body. This can make your skin feel very sensitive  as well as causing your skin to tan patchy.
These are just a few ways How the sun can ruin your skin.
