Let’s take a look at Tips for dry skin today

In today’s blog we are going to give you some Tips for dry skin.  As we approach the winter months, dry skin sufferers will know only too well that it’s time to pull out all the stops to try and combat their dry skin.

  • You should not take really hot showers or baths as hot water is just as bad as cold air when it comes to drying out your skin.
  • Do not overload your skin with products.  Two products is enough, any more than this could cause irritation.
  • Washing too often with soap is definitely going to dry your skin further.  Also dry and irritated skin is much more susceptible to bacterial infection, because excessive washing strips it of its protective, natural bacteria.
  • Never apply your makeup without popping on some moisturiser first.  Also, unfortunately, it is best to steer clear of foundation, as it blocks your pores and messes with sebum production.
  • Try not to sit too close to the fireplace or heaters or anything that gives off heat as this will dry your skin out more.
  • Do not use harsh scrubs. Exfoliation works to remove dead skin cells and this will help the moisturiser to penetrate the skin. Use a gentler scrub as if it’s too harsh it can dry the skin out.
  • Before shaving your legs, make sure your razor is sharp enough as if it is not then it may dry your skin.
  • Don’t leave your heating on all of the time as this is not good for your skin.  You may need to use a humidifier to put the moisture back into your home.
  • If your skin on your face is dry, use cold mineral water to wash or, even better, clean your face with an alcohol-free cleansing lotion.   Try not to wash with tap water as it often contains chlorine, fluoride, and other undesirable chemicals. So go for the natural ingredients.
  • A good way to prevent dry skin is to augment your diet with essential oils contained in raw organic butter, cod liver oil, Omega-3 eggs, coconut oil and fresh cold-water fish.
