Maintaining long nails

Maintaining long nails is easy todo if you know what you are doing.

Today we are  looking at Maintaining long nails.

Our nails are composed of laminated layers of protein called keratin. As the new cells grow, they push out the older ones and so the nails become longer. Nails without any ridges, dents and discolouration are healthy. So what do we need to do when Maintaining long nails ?
There are some ground rules for keeping your nails healthy;

Keep them clean and dry: Bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms can grow under your nails due to moisture and dirt. This can lead to painful infections.
Trim and file them: It is very important to trim your nails from time to time. The cells which were pushed out earlier might become brittle and break if you don’t trim them properly. This in turn may damage the length of the nail completely. Again, well-trimmed and nicely shaped nails enhance the beauty of your fingers.
Apply hand and nail cream: Moisturising is very important and even more important is using the right cream for moisturising. Don’t just buy any old hand cream make sure it is  specially designed for your nails as well.
Eat for your nails: Calcium plays an important role in the growth of your nails. Along with it vitamin A, C, E and B12, folic acid and proteins are important.These can be found in most fruit and veg so if you are eating healthily you are on the right track.
Wear gloves when needed: Do not expose your nails to a lot of moisture, harsh chemicals, and detergents. Use gloves whenever required.
Give your nails a break from  nail posh : Don’t always wear nail varnish all the time your nails need a break as nail varnish and nail varnish remover are very drying can cause your nails to become brittle and weak.
Don’t Pick your nail varnish off: picking nail varnish off your nails stripes  part of the nail bed off which can  cause your nails to tear more easily.
If you follow these tips you will find that Maintaining long nails is easy.
